Monday 9th March
Welcome to this week's blog. Thank you to all the people who came to the Kingswood meeting last week.
HOMEWORK
Normal homework this week with numeracy and spellings.
Island Homework
Week – 6
The noise and the smell of the party encourage some unwanted visitors.
Write a description of the party explaining the events and the results. Use plenty of detail to give a vivid description.
LITERACY
The children worked very hard last week to understand how to write instructions so this week we are going to be continuing with a Non-Fiction theme. Through the course of the week the children will be investigating how to make best use of DICTIONARIES, how to explain words and write DEFINITIONS, and how to NOTE-TAKE.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/digger/9_11entry/1.shtml - I know it says 9-11 but I'm sure you can do it!!!
http://www.buzzin.net/revision_tips/skills/nt-00.htm - important information on how to make notes.
Alongside this the children will be continuing with Comprehension and Spell Well activities.
NUMERACY
Last week the children had lots of opportunities to go on the World Math's Day site. They also had a very enjoyable time all morning last Wednesday doing Numeracy all morning. We had seven activities in the classroom and then the children rotated round the class so they did them all. Ask your child to find out more.
In Mrs Harding's group this week we will be carrying on with our topic on angles. We will be looking again at angles on a straight line, in a right angle and round a point. The children will also be using protractors too to measure and draw angles.

Miss Robinson's Group are going to be working hard on developing their MULTIPLICATION and DIVISION skills this week. As well as this we will be working hard on developing our skills in MENTAL MATHS and UNDERSTANDING QUESTIONS. We have a very busy week ahead of us so let's get onto the links so you can all get practising:

http://www.wmnet.org.uk/wmnet/custom/files_uploaded/uploaded_resources/851/Hitthebuttonv7.swf - you can practice division on here too.
In Mrs Bethell’s Numeracy Group this week we are making sure we know our 3 and 4 times tables – these have all been stuck in homework books to learn at home – and we are still being tested on our knowledge of time facts – eg. How many days in a year?
The main part of the lesson is a focus on : reflective symmetry, work on angles, and direction and compass points. If you have a compass at home please could you allow your child it into school. Thankyou.
