Year 3/4 Weekly Update

Monday 11th May

Welcome to this week's blog spot. We have been really busy doing lots of art and creative work for an art project called the PAN project. This creativity will be continuing for most of this week as we get everything ready to go on display.

There is a cake sale on Friday at 3pm in the hall by the FOSV.

BAG TO SCHOOL APPEAL

Many thanks to the parents who supported the bag to school appeal. We raised £312.00. Thanks again.

ROSARY

Anybody wanting to attend the rosary in the hall you are very welcome. This starts every day at 8.30am.

TESTS

This week is an important time in school as both the Year 5 and Year 6 children sit their exams. For the Year 6 it is their S.A.T.s this week and I'm sure you will join me in wishing them well and saying good luck to them all. I'm sure they will be brilliant!

For the Year 3 and 4 children that also means that time of year is fast approaching and exams and tests will be starting next week and continuing in the first week back after the holidays. As we keep on emphasising, it is important that the children sit together for their tests rather than on their own later on. Please try to keep your children in school at all times during the test weeks as it is much more comfortable and relaxed for them when they are with their whole year group. The levels will be communicated to you at the end of the year with the children's reports.

HOMEWORK

Homework will resume this week as normal.

1 Project homework week three on time machine.

2 Reading every night.

3 Spellings.

4 Numeracy tasks.

TIME MACHINE PROJECT HOMEWORK WEEK THREE

You arrive.
Write about what you see as you step out of your time machine.
Remember to include what you see, hear, smell and feel......
Is it day/night.....?

Can you see any animals or people or other living things?
Are there any buildings?
Draw pictures too to go with your explanation.

As we are reviewing our learning this week you may find it useful to go back over previous weeks and refresh the different topics covered in Numeracy and Literacy. Below are just a few to get you started.

Mrs Bethell's Numeracy
This week we are reviewing quite a few areas we have already covered in previous terms : telling the time and solving time problems, reading scale - capacity and weight, 3D shape - naming and using 2D nets to make 3D shapes, and times tables - multiples of 3, 4, 5, 10.
Please could you help your child to be able to tell the time and convert analogue into digital time where ever possible. Telling the time is a difficult concept for most children to master and every oppertunity to practice will pay off!!
