AUTUMN TERM 2009

New term...New site!
Hi and welcome back to the Autumn Term. There will now be a ‘one-stop shop’ for all weekly information and curriculum support for Year Three and Four. This means that the only site that you need to check each week from now on, will be the new school website.

How do I access the new site? Go to http://www.stvincentsprimary.co.uk/ and click on Year Groups. This is on a menu bar on the left hand side of the screen. Click on Year 3 or Year 4 and this will take you to the homepages. If you scroll down on the homepage, you will find an outline of what we will be covering this week in class and a general overview of all the topics we are doing this year.

What about links to websites? You will be able to access recommended websites, by clicking on the Curriculum link on the Year 3 or 4 homepage and then clicking on the links for each topic. The links section also contains general links for literacy, numeracy, science and general sites. All of the links will be added to as time goes on and new topics are covered.

There are many other parts of the site to explore, but the only way to see everything that is available so far, is to go and look!

All year groups in school are now using the school web site.

Thanks again and welcome to the new school year.

May we take this opportunity to thank you for all your support during this transition period and always. Take care and have a good week!

Monday 13th July

Welcome to our last blog of the year.
We say a very sad goodbye this week to Mrs Narraway, who is leaving us to take up her new post as a consultant for Warrington Local Authority. She has been a great asset to our school in her many different roles. I am sure you will join us all in wishing her all the very best and heartfelt wishes as she moves onto pastures new. Remember to keep in touch Mrs Narraway! xxx

We also say goodbye to Mr Tilling and Mr Slavin who have been with us teaching. Mr Slavin came on supply and has been with us for a year and a half. We are all grateful for all the hard work he has done in our school and we wish them both the best of luck.

6th July

Welcome to this week's blog spot. Sport's day with the new organisation was very successful and we have had lots of positive feedback from parents and children. We had a vote in assembly last week and the children have voted to keep this style of Sport's day next year too. The weather was really kind to us and we all had a great time.

CHESTER ZOO TRIP

We are going to Chester zoo this Thursday and thank you to all the volunteers who want to come. We will let you know this week if we need you and of course the groups for the day. You will receive another final letter this week about wearing suitable clothing for the weather and having a drink, sun cream and a little money to spend for extra drinks etc. We will be leaving school about 9 am and will leave the zoo at 3pm. We expect to be back for 3.45pm. Please make sure that you contact any after school carers/clubs of the late return this day.Hopefully the weather will be lovely again!! Please send any more slips into school as soon as possible.

There will be no homework for the last two weeks as there is so much going on with discos, concerts and the BBQ.

10th July Annual summer BBQ

Summer barbeque from 6.00pm until late!

Hair Styles

We are becoming increasingly concerned about some hair styles that the boys are having. Styles which are short-cropped, with razor lines and gelled crests are not in keeping with the spirit of the uniform policy. We ask for your support with this. Many thanks.

SPANISH

We welcomed Robert Artingstall last week who has started giving the children Spanish lessons. He will be coming in another two times before the end of term. We are learning about fiestas and have been learning about food and greetings. To practise your Spanish click on:

http://www.123teachme.com/learn_spanish/spanish_for_children this is a great website, which has lots of ‘clickable’ objects which help with pronunciation. http://www.learn4good.com/kids/learning_spanish_online/free_lessons_for_children.htm some lovely interactive activities for the children, including colours and numbers.

That is all for now. Have a great week.

Best wishes from all in the 3 / 4 team.
